My husband has decided to quit his job and forge out on his own, freelance style, doing tiling and home improvement work on his own.
I support his decision to strike out on his own and make his own way (if nothing else, I'll not hear another word about how badly his boss sucks ass).
Today he went to town with $1,000 start up money to buy tools and other supplies to get his enterprise going. He already has a job lined up for tomorrow and about five or six others down the pike.
I'm proud of him...though I admit, the thought of him in Home Depot with our checkbook gives me chills.

I think it's great to do what you really want to do, even if it means sacrifices here or there. You only live once, you owe it to yourself to make yourself and your loved ones happy. Good luck!
Good luck!
He's so friggin happy right now. He's out in the yard with all his new tools, and I'll tell you, it makes me happy to see him so happy.
I'm jealous. I'll go back to being horribly depressed in my office now. :-)
Yeah, Amy's right about the LLC. It's definitely the way to go and should be pretty easy to set up.
He got to go to Home Depot and get pretty much whatever he wanted. He should be in fairly good spirits for awhile. He was so happy that even when immediately upon his return home we had to find and kill a giant rat Louie brought into the house, he was still smiling.
We caught this one, by the way. And we only had to move a sofa bed to do it...so easy. :)
you can do the LLC online can't you? I think I've heard commercials for that on the radio.
How does that all work?
Amy, you should email me when you get a chance...pen_gnome@yahoo.com
Oh, it's all so complicated!
Very happy for Bob! Congrats! I'm sure he'll do great.
I have a feeling that my taxes this year are going to be a crazy bitch.
I did! But I feel much much better now after having read your email.
I talked to Bob about all this early early this morning, probably two minutes after he woke up (which is a bad time for discussions of any worth with him).
But, he was surprisingly chipper and lucid...I think he likes his new boss.
I'm totally excited for him to get to do what he has been wanting to do for so long, which is work for himself! From what he's said, he's already got a ton of projects lined up, so even though I'll still worry, I won't.
Knowing I'll probably be handling the business/money side of things helps to calm my fears as well. :)
Oh, that's not true either!
