RSV Sucks
So, we narrowly avoided checking into the hospital yesterday with Dylan.
Instead, we are doing the inhaled albuterol, just like we did for Elizabeth. Yep, that's right. Dylan may have RSV. Already!
I ended up taking him into the hospital Sunday night because he stopped breathing for about 30 seconds or so, and turned blue in the face.
We followed up Monday morning with Dr. Moffat who kept us there a couple of hours to check him and observe his breathing and measure his oxygen saturation levels. They were not great. 91 regular and 85 when nursing. A good level is 95.
We discussed hospitalizing him, but we're giving us another chance to get his a little better. So I've got to suction his nose like crazy and give him the breathing treatments every four hours and get him nursing well, he's been not doing super because he can't breathe and eat at the same time with a stuffy nose. It was the worst Monday morning at like 430 am, he just wouldn't eat. It took me another hour to get him fed. That sucked. It usually takes 10 minutes to get him full. Anyway...
We're watching him for signs that he's getting worse and since Elizabeth already HAD RSV, I am particularly alert to the signs. I even told Dr. Moffat that in the ER they measured his O2 sats and they were around 90 and they told me that was good, but I knew it wasn't and he agreed that's not good at all. I don't know what they're doing over there.
We get re-evaluated this morning to see if baby Dylan has to go into the hospital. I hope not. But if he does, he does. That's just the way it goes.

I hope he's doing better, but at least you have a little helper.
Aww, my poor little Dylan. Give him lots of hugs and kisses for me. (Give yourself some hugs and kisses, too!)
Sounds like you know what you're doing. Keep up the good work.
Just stopped by again to see how Baby D is doing. Hope all is well.
Hi, all: Just talked to Jess. She asked me to give you a quick update. Dylan's doing much better now. He's been in the hospital since Tuesday. They're hoping to be discharged Thursday. She's going to sneak around the hospital for Internet access today, but if not, I'll try to keep you posted.
Thanks for the update. I was beginning to worry. Hope he's doing 110% better on Thursday and can go home.
Thank you for the update. I was worried too.
Not to copy everyone else, but I was worried too. Let's hope he's out tomorrow
