Indoctrination

My husband and sister in law have been teaching Elizabeth to say valuable phrases to get her through life.
A couple weeks ago, I tried to trim her bangs and she moved and they came out, well, not ideally. Her dad and aunt taught her this handy phrase.

"Mommy! Don't cut the hair, NEVER AGAIN!"

I suffered with a bowl cut from about Elizabeth's age until maybe three and a half or four years old. Now THAT is traumatic!

I escaped this with my daughter by refusing to get her a haircut. I want her bangs to grow out so I can get them all back easily. Of course, she looks like she has a mop of hair and it's all in her eyes now.

I've cut her hair all around before and now I am quitting.
Her dad wants her to have long hair because "girls have long hair"
whatever.

Totally. I go through phases of wanting Rachel hair when she was dating Bruce Willis on Friends and Rachel hair when she was dating Tag. AKA Super LONG or short and choppy.
In high school my hair was at my waist, and heavy! and hot and a total pain. Right before I met my husband I chopped my hair from mid back length to around chin-length, and that's what I looked like when we fell in love...but I've gone through a bunch of long-short-long cycles in those five or so years and he says he likes it better long.
Example:

Me: What would you think if I cut my hair?
Bob: Don't come home.

I'm glad that our craziness seems to be normalcy...at least in the blogworld.

Amen, sisters. Chris would rather mine be long as well... so he's taking it out on our daughter. Poor child can't see at all right now because he doesn't want her to have bangs... all has to be one length.

I went all one length once. I looked like Alannis Morrisette. Not a good look for me.

Stop putting words into my mouth.

I don't care if your hair is short or long, but there are times when it looks better one way or another. I'm don't want your hair to be down to you ass, but I don't want it over your ears either. I don't think I would want your hair below your shoulders - too long.

I would like Athena's bangs to grow out. That's all I said. I am not a big fan of bangs. Sue me. I would much rather her be able to pull all of her hair back rather than just parts of it.

Well, that's going to be my daughter soon too. I keep trimming her bangs because they go INTO her eyes and I don't want her to go blind, but her dad protests and he's going to wear me down and the bangs will have to go through that awkward half long, half short all ugly stage. At least she'll be a toddler for the troubling bad hair portion of her life.
