Am I a quitter if I quit?

Last night (long story short) a fellow CrapCart employee yelled at me from across the store in front of customers. Mind you, this is someone I've never met or even SEEN before and have no idea what he was doing in my section.
Then he went and told on me to the manager on duty who THEN told me that I was overreacting by being upset and that said employee was not being a jerk to me and I was in the wrong.
Now Bob wants me to quit my job and/or let him beat some people up.
I'm not sure what to do. I need the money, but not the aggravation or stress, for sure.
Everyone now vote.
To quit, or not to quit?

See, I'm still not EXACTLY sure why you quit the newspaper job, which at least had some sort of redeeming sense of reward at the end of the day... couldn't you just work for them at night instead? Or were there other issues.

Retail is just not going to be fun. It's not. Especially at a Megamart. You have your kids to harrass you... you don't need random strangers doing it.

However, I don't want you starving to death... so perhaps focus on the job hunt while still working so you can tell them to kiss it when you are walking out the door to your (already secured) next job.

I quit the paper because after gas, lunches and child care expenses I was only bringing in $300 a month, which was not worth it for the amount of stress I was having to undergo.

Can't you go back to the newspaper and ask that they only assign you stories that happen at night? covering school board meetings and all that boring stuff, or doing features so you can just call the people from home or meet them when Bob is home?

I could ask...

if you don't need the benes, consider going for a temp job that could potentially turn perm. or at least, get you out of mega-headache.

or, see if fed-ex or similar is hiring..... the typically like part timers, offer good benefits to their part timers, and like people who like to work at night. ???

or, just repeat to yourself TIJAJ! (pronounced tea-uh! for this is just a job) and laugh or smile at the incompetent boob who thinks it is appropriate, professional, etc. to raise a voice in any way shape or fashion at a place of employment.

there's my two (plus?) cents. craptastic jobs are good, when they are not stressful, but this is sounding stressful.

a friend of mine got a retail job at bevmo and loves it. no crappy customers. as she explains, 'most people who come to a bevmo are really happy to be there, cos they're getting ready to go to or have some sort of festive experience.'

I don't know your situation but here are my thoughts... take it or leave it. I agree with Elizabeth as far as looking for something else while you continue to work (it is a paycheck!). I've worked retail (several years) and understand your pain. I think you're a tough cookie and can totally handle this... retail is like high school in many ways and knowing this and being above it really does help. Working retail is thankless in a lot of ways but the reward is a paycheck + no child care costs. I think you should hang in there.
Ignore the nasty co-workers. There are always bad apples in the bunch. Just realize it's a job, nothing more nothing less. Try to focus on the positives (PAYCHECK, hours that work for you and Bob).

Well Bob is dead set that I quit. I've asked him one million times and every time he says "Quit, quit, quit."
I hate quitting jobs. It makes me feel all squiggy.
Any quitting advice?

Blame your pregnancy. Say your doctor says the standing on your feet all day is elevating your blood pressure and putting you at risk of blood clots.

Man... Amy is good. No wonder she's a lawyer. Let me know when you take the NC bar so you can move to Monkey Junction. I'll totally be your first client.

She's BRILLIANT!
That's exactly what I said. It worked. I'm out baby!

See, and now you can continue to shop there!

Amy, your brilliance is unparalleled in this or any other hemisphere...
Wait.
What hemisphere are you in?
Anyway.
Genius!

The fact that you two are both mothers and it is I who thought up using the child as an excuse is just astonishing. My children will have every disease imaginable if it will get me out of work.
