Aside from the aches and pains...

...Christmas wasn't all bad, and it's not over yet! More on that to come...

Inspired by Amy, here's my list of holiday goodies and treats:

* A DVD player for our bedroom
* Three pairs of earrings, some made by my stepmother in law, some purchased
* A new silver watch
* A great on-sale piece of furniture (which I bought with my Christmas money) It's a jacket storage hutch type thingy...I'll have to snap a pic. I got it 50 percent off, I couldn't pass it up, even though I will have to put some other furniture into storage for awhile to use it!
* A new black wallet, replaces my six-year old brown wallet
* A calendar, with pics of cats
* Three books, two of which I will never read and don't know what to do with - Suggestions?
* A big silver jewelry box, which I also don't know what to do with, I might give it to Elizabeth, or save for regifting....if you get it, sorry!!
* A necklace that I picked out myself but Bob bought for me
* Assorted flavors of body lotion, shower gel, etc etc, from assorted people

It's a pretty good mix of stuff. Plus, I still have some Xmas money left over, so that's cool.
Also, my mom is arriving in town tomorrow after spending Christmas with my brother this year. Or Festivus, or whatever he's celebrating this year, Satanic Kwaanzakah?
Anyway, she said she's packing her car full of presents for me, Bob, Elizabeth and the baby on the way. Though she drives a smallish vehicle - a Mitsubishi Eclipse - that's still a heck of a lot of packages.

Bob did a lot better than I did this year, he got new work boots, a nice new sturdy work jacket, a Raiders fleece blanket, some thermals, a talking Napoleon Dynamite pen, and the best of all, a $100 Home Depot gift card. Not too shabby.

Of course, Elizabeth did the absolute best of all three of us, scoring a ride-on motorized quad, a pony shaped chair (literally, looks like a pony, works like a chair), a bunch of coloring books, chapstick (she's obsessed), crayons, books, other toys, some outfits, a big wooden dollhouse, a Cinderella stool, puzzles, kids glitter perfume, a Magnadoodle....yikes! And that's NOT counting whatever treasures Nana is bringing from SoCal.

We get to do Christmas all over again tomorrow night. I'm excited, but also kind of spent from the weekend of festivities we just had. I need some coffee and/or a coma-like nap to get prepared!
Maybe not in that order.

I got Memoirs of a Geisha, which I have no interest in reading at all. I didn't when it first came out, and I still don't now. Does that make me a bad person?
I also got this Oprah's Book Club book...which scares me to begin with...what's it called again...A Million Little Pieces. It's about some dude going to rehab.
Yeah, I gotta say, I'm not really jazzed for that one either.
It's a shame. I like to read, just not in these genres really.

I have heard of it before, the Oprah book, but I'm just totally not interested in reading it. My sister in law is reading it and it's all about rehab and constantly cussing, it's supposedly this dude's rehab memoir. You know, I'm good. I'm not into it.

Life is too short to read these kinds of books. There are books out there that will lift you up & make you glad you read them. That's what you want to read. Not the whiny, navel-gazing stupid books.

Those are my thoughts exactly.
I'm self-absorbed enough, I don't need or want to read the memoirs of other self-absorbed people. It's not fun.
