Yesterday, in a nutshell....

"look at me, I'm in a nutshell!"

This is a fairly good approximation of my whole entire day yesterday...

Me: Stop doing that or you're going straight into your room for time out.
Child in trouble (Elizabeth): But I don't want a time out.
Me: That's sort of the point.
CIT (Elizabeth): ~now sobbing~ But I don't waaaaaaant a time ouuuuuuut!!!
Me: Then stop doing things that will get you put in a time out.
CIT (Elizabeth): ~suddenly fine~ But I don't want to.
Me: ~reaching for giant bottle of alcohol~ Lord save me today, save me from killing this child.
CIT (Elizabeth): You have a big butt!

Athena does the exact same thing. Getting her to understand that stopping what she is doing will prevent the time out is a bit of an undertaking.

It must be the age!

My next most favorite is...after 10 minutes of the bad behavior

"Ok, go to your room!"
"NO!! I'm stopping. I'm stopping!"
"You still have to go have timeout!"
"Whyyyyy! I'm stopping!!!!!!!!"

The big butt comment reminds me of when I was in preschool. Apparently my mom and I were in a department store fitting room and I was running all around and my mom was insisting I get over there and get in the stall with her while she tried on the clothes. Legend has it that at the top of my voice I answered, "But I don't want to have to see your hairy butt!" And my mom, always one for a teaching moment, corrected me quietly that it was not the butt that was hairy, it was the vagina. Why was she surprised then, when I very innocently belted with all my force, "Then I don't want to have to see your hairy vagina!"

SHE DIDN'T JUST SAY THAT?!?! Wow that would have been an immediate time out in my rule book. No making fun of mommy EVER!
When I threaten time out Ry tells me, "Otay I have time out".
Uh..not sure what to do with that...

Sometimes she just SAYS "you have a big butt!" and sometimes she actually smacks me on the butt to emphasize the jiggle WHILE she says it....

Sometimes she'll walk into my room while I'm changing clothes and say "I can see your butt." and then walk out.
Like, who asked you!?!

PS When Dylan gets a time out he sits down really fast, then starts scooting away from the time out spot. Then when you "coach" him about it he starts fake crying and says "Mommy, I crying!"
